hey everyone im just updating 'cause we haven't in FOREVER!!! well i guess it hasen't been to long ago. we are just getting ready for halloween. boston is going to be a tiger, cooper is going to be a baseball player most likely (go figure, right), i (delaney) am going to be a fairy, and kenzie doesn't know what she is going to be yet. but we will get some pictures up after halloween.

here is an update on how everyone has been doing............

scott: doing work and loving it. helping coach coopers baseball as well and absolutely loving it!!

annette: being a stay at home mom still. loving staying at home with boston on tuesday and thursday.

mckenzie: doing school. and she is doing piano. such a responsible, girl as always though, right!:)

delaney: doing school. im doing piano and dance and i try to improve all the time on my activities.

cooper: he has fiished up the baseball season exept for the halloween tournement. and doing school.

boston: well i don't know what to say about him.........our little tiger, lion, dog, wolf, what ever kind of animal he is!!:) he does pre-school monday, wednsday, and friday and loves it.

we also just got back from san diego a week ago for UEA break. and wow it was super fun!!!!:) we went to the wild animal park and to the beach, 'cause i mean whats a trip to san diego without going to the beach. we got family pictures taken on the beach. thanks everyone that made it such a FUN trip!!!!:)

Tomorrow is Delaney's birthday and to celebrate she invited a few of her friend to the house on Saturday and had a Tea Party. Lesley Sparks helped us by designing the CUTEST invitation for her event. Thanks so much Les it turned out cute. Kenz and Delaney decorated the back porch with the cutest turquoise and yellow ribbons, tablecloth and more. The dishes used came from Grandma Vest's collection and really might be about 60 or so years old.

Menu included: White chocolate dipped strawberries with turquoise and yellow polka dots, frozen lemonade, chicken sandwiches on yellow and turquoise bread, and fruit kabobs including grapes, peaches, strawberries and watermelon. Ooohhhh it was so delicious. The girls played a "Do you know Delaney game?" and had a riot. Here were the questions let's see how many of you know Miss Delaney.

1. What does she want to be when she grows up?

2. Is she a morning or night person?

3. Does she prefer summer or winter?

4. How many pairs of shoes does she have?

5. What is she going without during the year 2010?

Go ahead and take a stab at the answers. We got a kick out of some of them. Sure love our little Delaney and hope she has a fabulous number 11.

We can't believe that our cute little Kenz is a teenager today. Well, she always has had the desire to talk with the adults more than the kids and is a more responsible parent than her dad is most of the time.Cooper wanted to tell her to have a great one teenage girl and I hope that you come through with all of your goals this summer. I love you, Cooper. Boston simply couldn't live without his othermother. Kenz takes such good care of him and is a great example for him. We just looked at the clock and it says 11:22 pm the exact minute Kenz was born at Orem Community Hospital. Delaney wants to shout out and let her know she luvs to hang with friends and now that she's a full on teenager she can throw diva tantrums.

Tonight we were in the car and we passed a cute little puppy walking on the side of the road and Boston at first just said that he wanted the puppy and that it was lost and it was our lost puppy. Well, we thought nothing of it until about ten minutes later he started to cry and he told me that he wanted the puppy to have a home. My mom tried to calm him down but talking about the puppy made it worse. He started to say that it was lost and it wouldn't find it's home and then my mom said that it's home was just around the corner, but Bosti wasn't buying it. He finally said that the dog catchers would come and get the puppy and so I told him that there are nice and mean dog catchers and that the ones here are the nice ones. We then started talking about something else and he cheered right up! I love how much he loves animals and wants them safe (and in a home!!)

Tribute to Annette and the Kids

I figured it's my turn(Scott) to post for once and so here goes a post dedicated to the ones that I love more than any other:

Annette: Love to get a mid morning text or phone call from her. Whenever I see her name come across my phone it still makes my heart skip a beat and I love to hear her friendly and happy voice on the other end. Love it when she leaves messages as well. Great smile, fantastic laugh, beautiful face, and best friend. Great travel partner even if it's just to the grocery store to pick up some eggs and milk late at night. I'm so excited to see the tulips bloom that she planted last fall.

McKenzie: The one who really keeps this blog a float. Great smile and awesome personality. She is such a disciplined girl and I love it when we get to spend one on one time together especially early in the morning like this morning when we stopped by Crisp's to pick up a pie so she could get a little extra credit in class(like she needs extra credit). Love that she is so responsible and I'm so excited to see her play the Fairy Godmother in the play this Spring.

Delaney: Her name says it all. Great smile and a wonderful friend to so many. Good listener and I loved the way she listened to her sister Kenz as she told us about an interesting experience she had at school last week. I learned a lot about the great friendship that our daughters have and learned even more about how they aspire to be like their mom someday. Thank goodness Annette is such a good one. Love the way Delaney gets along with so many different types of people.

Cooper: Energetic and hard to keep up with. Wade says he's the king of "one more." Whether it be a fly ball, basketball shot, grounders, or some swings at practice he loves to get in just one more rep. We were at Fabulous Freddy's last week in St. George and I couldn't pry his hands off the March madness hoop set up around the Pepsi cans. Loves to play games and worked hard to earn some money to buy the New Super Mario game. So fun to coach him and see him develop in sports and in school.

Boston: He loves pre-school and is so excited every Tuesday and Thursday when he gets to go to school with his buddy Canyon. Loves to wear his Boston Red Sox jersey and his David shoes from Sandlot II. Comes up with some of the greatest one liners in four year old history. Latest is during family council dad said he was flying to Vegas to do some work and Boston said "You can't fly to Vegas dad you don't have wings." Annette said he's definetely not a Vest child from the SkyWest travel era. Has great dimples when he smiles and loves to play like he's an animal.

Simply said, it's a pleasure to have such a fun family and I love being a husband and dad. As our buddy Kenny Chesney says "Don't Blink". Enjoy every minute and don't forget to learn from yesterday, LIVE for today, and look forward to tomorrow.

Last night my mom went into my room only to find that Bosti had drawn all over his face and he claimed that he was a tiger!!! He is way into all sorts of animals and they don't scare him, but put him on Santa's lap and he starts to go ballistic! Ah Bosti, we love ya to pieces!!

Today a few of our friends came up from St. George for a dance competition and we built a snow fort/hut! It was so much fun! My dad also provided his muscles and helped us shovel a lot of the snow on the front!

Well I guess I have no choice!

Funny story actually, so yesterday I was walking to the bus stop, and I thought I was doing pretty good you know I hadn't fallen yet, then all of the sudden I just stepped on a little bit of ice and WHOOSH there I go! hahaha! It was hilarious! I just sat on the ground and laughed at myself! Then after school I was doing so good, then I go to cross the street to get home and what do you know...WHOOSH! And it happened just in time for my mom to turn the corner and see me fall! And the only people around were boys that live on my street and they were all like are you OK but then they saw my face and started laughing too! So I go and hang on to the door handle of the car and my mom starts going faster and I ALMOST slip again, but don't worry I caught my self! And today I would be sitting in my desk and then all of the sudden reposition myself and it would hurt so bad! ah good times!!

So tonight I was looking in the freezer and found a Diet Pomegranate 7UP(best soda ever by the way!) looking like it would explode at any moment so, being the idiot that is in me I decided to open it up... only to find that when I did open it up it would explode all over creation!! It was on the floor, my shirt, my hair, in my eyes, on all of the pictures in the kitchen, and all over the tables near by! What a Circus am I?! I've definitely learned my lesson! Alright we have a lot to update about!!! My parents went to Florida the 5 to the 10!!!! They had a blast!!! Unfortunately the camera was out of batteries so the only pics taken were on their cell phones. We had a fun Halloween weekend... we went to St. George!!! Except for Delaney, she went to California to visit some family out there!!! Cooper had an accident the weekend before and got his fingers stuck in his bike chain... (long story!!!) But he went down to St.George and played in a baseball tournament!!! He did fantastic!! He pitched quite a few innings and had some awesome at bats!!! My mom also ran the St. George marathon on October 3!!(a little too late on that piece of information!) She did a great job and didn't even train!!

We went to Utah's Hogle Zoo on Thursday! It was so much fun we were all excited to go! (even my dad...)

The elephants were first!!!! This little girl was so entertaining i could have watched her the whole time!!!! just as we were about to leave, her mom pooped and she started to EAT it!!!!! YEAH EAT IT!!!!! (i know GROSS) But she was cute anyways!!!

The monkeys were second they were fun and almost as entertaining as the baby elephant!!!!!

This baby giraffe is so dang cute!!!! i love it!!!!!

The tiger's fur (or whatever you want to call it...) was so beautiful!!! i loved it!!!

Finally A New Post! (We Didn't Disappear)

We won't be in Saint George for a LONG time. (How sad) I will update on Stadium of Fire with in the next week or so. There might not be any posts for a while after that. I just thought I would tell you why. When we move there probably will be a lot more posts with the new house and everything. But we are away from our own computer so I am updating from my grandma and grandpa's house. See Ya!!!

She's 12!!!!

I can't believe I have a twelve year old! Even though McKenzie has always been an adult locked inside of a child's body, it is crazy to think that my first little tiniest baby is 12. Kenz is such a sweet girl and has the best heart. She is very dedicated to her school work and did an amazing job transitioning into middle school this year. Kenzie is by far one of the best decision makers I know. She has always been able to tell right from wrong and never hesitates to make the right choices even if they are hard. She is an amazing example especially to her parents:) We lovingly like to refer to Kenz as the "Otha Motha" because she does such a fantastic job helping me with the kids. She babysits for me lots and never ever complains. I could never make it without my Kenzie Girl!

Her friend Taylor made her these cute posters and came and put them up while Kenzie was gone. The balloons were tied to Kenzie's "special brand" of skittles. She is so lucky to have such great friends.

For her party she did a scavenger hunt through downtown. We put Scott's creative mind to work and he wrote up all the cute clues. They had to do all kinds of fun tasks. the one above is of one of the teams singing Popcorn Popping on the stairs of the Tabernacle.

This one is of the girls doing the Miley Cyrus Hoedown in the middle of the fountain.

At the end, they all ended up at Blue Bunny for pizza and ice cream. The girls were absolutely darling and had such a good time.

We are so blessed to have such a sweet daughter and sister in our family.

Summer!!!

Next week includes the last day of school!! This school year has flown by so fast to me it's unbelievable. I think the reason it went by so fast is because everyday goes by so fast when you have five classes and teachers to see in one day. My summer will be filled with dancing, family, and SWIMMING. Hope your summer is filled with fun and happiness as well!!!

Okay so a couple weeks late on this one but we got to go to the Julianne Hough concert on April 3rd. It was so fun. Delaney got to sing with her for a little bit. She said it was so fun! We had an awesome time with the whole family.(yes. even Bosti) The next night she was in Vegas and won the top new artist award. Yay!!!

Spring Break!!!

I can't wait for spring break!! It's in two days. We get go up north. Oh so lovely. Too bad it is FREEZING!!! I hope it warms up when we go. Supposedly, there is snow all over the place. I also the roads aren't slick.I am so glad we get to see some of our family we haven't seen since Emily's wedding. Counting her and Stephen. We miss them so much. Delaney got in a little fight with the bin today and I guess the bin won. She came out and said mom I got this stuck on my head and it really hurts. My mom said Yeah! I bet. Then Sara said stay right there I need to go get my camera. I almost peed my pants laughing at her. (What a nice sister.) Just look at her face doesn't she look miserable.She is a nut case. But what would we do without her. That little goofball. Luckily, Sara was nice enough to help her out of the darn thing. She learned her lesson.

I can just remember the day my mom brought Boston home from the hospital. He was wrapped in the blanket in the picture above. He will be three in less than a month. He is a little cutie and almost gets anything he wants because of it. He is into the following list of movies, Cars, Flika, Toy Story and Toy Story 2, and Stuart Little. Also a little movie that Chad, his uncle put together about Wade, his other uncle. He is very special to our family and we love him so very much!!

Halloween Day

Halloween started off bright and early with the elementary school parade at 9:30am. Since Halloween was on a Friday and the kids have early out on Friday, it pushed everything up a few hours. This is Cooper during the parade. The kids just parade in and out of all the classrooms in the school and then end up back in their classroom.

After the parade, I went and did the party in Delaney's classroom. I now understand why my friends that are teachers despise Halloween. There was a kid that puked in Delaney's classroom and then proceeded to stay the rest of the day with HIS MOTHER RIGHT NEXT TO HIM. Is it just me or is that a little odd. Take him home for goodness sakes. Then one of those lovely masks that shoot blood down through them leaked all over the carpet in her classroom. Poor Mr. Antonio, the janitor was working OT in Delaney's classroom that day. Here she is during one of the games being transformed into the cutest mummy ever.
Here are all of my little goblins. McKenzie was the sassy little witch which we hope is not foreshadowing her teenage years because she is still the sweetest girl. Delaney was Tiger Lily from Peter Pan but everyone thought she was Pocahontas. And of course the only costumes we can get the boys to wear are some sort of athletic wear which is fine with me now. A few years ago this was not acceptable to a mother who liked to orchestrate a themed Halloween for her little ones. After Cooper spent a Halloween hiding in the bushes all night because I made him dress up like Captian Hook, I vowed never to ruin another Halloween for him again.

Our ward did a Trunk-or-Treat that night at the church. It was the first time we have done that and I had a few mixed feelings about it. I am all about a ward activity but I don't know that I liked it the actual night of Halloween. The kids had a great time so I guess that is all that matters. Grandpa Billy had come down to golf with some friends so he was able to come and hang out with us for the party as well. Later on that night while the girls were out trick-or-treating, Grandpa took Coop over to one of the haunted houses in the neighborhood. Coop was scared out of his mind but glad Grandpa was there to protect him. We don't raise the bravest of kids around our house. Boston has never been so excited for a holiday season to pass. He can now run errands peacefully with me without being scared and terrified of all the scary decor.

The Tradition Lives On

Throughout my childhood years my cute mom started the tradition of making sugar cookies not just for Halloween but for every holiday you could find a cookie cutter for. Without fail whenever Valentine's, St. Paddy's, Easter, Halloween, etc. came around mom was stirring up a batch of sugar cookies for all of us chickadees. It doesn't hurt that she makes the absolute BEST sugar cookie around. The recipe is a single batch but mom always five, yes you read that right, FIVE timesed(is that a word?)the batch. And believe it or not it probably only took a few hours for us to devour every last crumb of those cookies. I'd like to blame that on my four bros but unfortunately my sis and I held our own with the sweets. So in keeping with Bodily tradition the week before Halloween the kids and I destroyed the kitchen and made sugar cookies-but we only tripled the recipe. My only regret is that I didn't take a picture of all the works of art that were created. The kids did a great job and we had so much fun!

Carving Pumpkins

The Sunday before Halloween we had the kids carve their pumpkins but realized later that it was probably a little too soon because by the time Halloween came on Friday the pumpkins were a little moldy already. Here is Wader helping Delaney scrape the gunk out of her pumpkin and Kenzie taking care of business with hers.

He wanted to know where the good ole days of yester year had gone when you just hand the kid a knfe and let them start cutting out a scary face. He was a good sport to humor us throught the process.

Here are the finished products! Kenzie's is on the left and is supposed to be the werewolves. Cooper's is in the middle with the cross bones and skull and Delaney's is on the right with the singing ghosts.

Cooper and Delaney ended up taking theirs to school for the pumpkin carving contest at school and Cooper won second place for his. I am not sure that was honest seeing as how Scott and I had to do most of the work!

Family Night at Staheli Farm

A few weeks ago we went over to Staheli Farms for Family Night and had a riot. The kids thought it was the greatest. It is a good thing we live in a little small town community because when our kids get out like that, there is no way to contain them and keep them right by our side. The boys were in heaven running from one activity to the other. Boston of course couldn't believe his eyes when he found a real live "Wilbur" that kept snorting at us everytime we poked him. Can you blame him?

Each of the kids took a turn on these fun swings made out of tires. They were perfect for Delaney and Cooper but we decided McKenzie might be a little too old for them since her feet were dragging the entire tire she was on it. Then it was Boston's turn and he scared us all to death because we thought he was going to fly off the thing as Scott was prompting him to go one handed for the eight second count.

We finished off the night by going on a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch and running through the corn maze.

I Can't Get Out of Bed!!

This wednesday I had my tonsils out and have been in bed for the past five days. I am recovering well and doing a lot better than I was five days ago. I haven't been able to eat a lot because I am just not hungry and haven't been able to live with the pain of swallowing food. I should be able to eat normally in the next one or two days and will be able to walk around and not be in bed all of the time. I have enjoyed being able to eat a lot of ice cream and popsicles. I haven't enjoyed the medicine that I have to take every four hours. I am exited to hopefully not get so sick anymore. When they took me into the surgery room I got a little scared because they were wrapping me in all of these blankets and I couldn't move around at all. I felt like I was going to burst at any second but then I fell right to sleep. The surgery went beautifully and I was talking and moving around fine until the scabs came. Then I just layed down and have been out of commission for the last few days. It still hurts my throat to talk and eat but am on the mend.

Hiking in Snow Canyon

We live in such a beautiful area and are so blessed with the surroundings. Yesterday we went on a short hike through Snow Canyon. Kenzie stayed home as she wasn't feeling well due to her tonsils being violently removed by a pack of wild rats in the middle of the night. She really did great though and we are so proud of her.

Boston thought it was so funny to do a head first slide into the sand on the trail thinking the red dirt looked exactly like the red dirt on a baseball diamond. We hiked for about 30 minutes and then found a fun rock to climb up. Of course the boys took off running up the rock and the girls slowly made their way behind. We decided to stop for a moment and enjoy the beautiful scenery as well as some shade. The boys weren't quite satisfied with the view so they decided to hike up a little further and get shelter in one of the little caves. It scared me to death to watch Cooper and Boston sit on the sides of Scott with large drop offs on each side. After a while we decided to make our way down the rock back to the trail. Scott and Boston came down first with Cooper following behind. I saw Cooper wanting to run and then he took off running down the rock. You probably know what happened next, he tripped on the rock and rolled four times before he stopped. There was nothing I could do at the bottom but hope he didn't run into Boston and Scott and knock thier footing out from under them. My heart dropped and I said *%@# Cooper, what were you thinking. Luckily, I do the laundry at our house so nobody but myself will know exactly how scared I was to see Coop fall.

Scott and I capped off the night with a little date by hitting our favorite salad bar in town(Pizza Factory) and said hi to the man himself Bill Randall before catching the movie"The Secret Life of Bees." It was a great movie and I admit, I did get a little emotional during the movie partly because of the plot and partly because they ran out of butter for the popcorn and nacho cheese for snacks.

Today Delaney and Scott sang in sacrament meeting. One of the sisters in our ward called Scott and asked him to put together a men's quartet and he decided that singing with Delaney would be a nice change. I was so proud of Delaney and thought she would be very nervous but she did a fantastic job of hitting all the notes and had a big smile on her face the whole time she sang.

Sure is fun being a mom these days and I look forward to doing my job everyday. I really do have the best job in town!

#5 and Still Alive

So last Saturday I finished my fifth St. George marathon and just like all of the previous marathons, I thought that was the stupidiest thing I've ever done. I'll never ever do that again as long as I live. This time I didn't say it, I just thought it. When we started the race it was drizzling a little bit but it was fairly warm compared to years past. I didn't think it was going to be so bad once the rain stopped. Well the rain never stopped and at times got worse. It poured on us and the wind blew making our already wet bodies so cold. Needless to say the rain never did let up but for some reason my body did not mind. It was the best my legs had ever felt. I never had to take my ibuprofin or excedrin and didn't have to get the icy hot rub down at mile 18 that I always count on. I think because it was so frigid that my legs were numb and couldn't feel any of the normal pain associated with the run. I have always known there wasn't a chance in he** that I could ever qualify for Boston like all of my other running chicas, but i have always wanted to beat the 4-hour mark. I do not run with a watch or garmin so i didn't know exactly how I was doing until I turned down the one street and saw the clock that sadi 3:53. I had seven minutes to get my sorry wet butt to the finish line. I usually like the turn my music off the last few miles and listen to all the people in town cheering us on, but I had to dig deep. So I turned my ipod back on and pumped up the volume and took off. When I crossed the finish line it was 4:00:47. My chip time ended up being 3:59:37. I finally did it. I was wet, cold, sore and miserable but I had finally accomplished my goal. So now, once again let me say, I hope I never do that again! Whatever!!!

Can You Find a Rat in This Thing?

So on a Monday night about three weeks ago I was playing with my hair and brushing through it with my mom's brush and I rolled a little (big) section up thinking that it would be no big deal. I rolled it up and couldn't get it out. I started to cry because my dad was going to cut the piece out. I started to cry because I had worked so hard to grow it out again and it would be one inch long after he cut it. My mom worked so hard to get it out with her comb. It had a long tail on it that broke off in all the tangled mess. Well an hour and a half later my mom finally got it out. I was so happy when she dropped the brush in my lap and said you're welcome.

Looking Fine While Turning Nine!!

Here we go trying to play catch up! Miss Delaney turned nine on September 20 and did it in total "D-Train" fashion as Scott would say. She originally wanted to invite all of her friends over and personally give them each a manicure but considering that it takes her 45 minutes to do my nails, which she does a fabulous job at, we decided to go another route and go to the Hair School. Her and her friends went and got up-dos and manicures and then went out to lunch together. They looked absolutely darling and I forgot to get a whole group shot like a dingy mother.

We are so grateful for this little girl that constantly keeps us laughing. She runs on her own time and Scott always says everyone should get to join Delaney's World at some time in their lives. She is creative, artistic, and sweet-but has lots of sassiness! She can steal your heart with just one little smile when she flashes you those dimples. We love her to pieces!!!

Best Buddies

So the other day as Boston and I were walking through TJMaxx as we often do, Boston spotted a wonderful treasure upon the self that he wanted. I often wander through the store with lots of random items knowing that I will put them away when we are finished but for the time they are keeping my child quiet. So without a thought, I hand Boston the little pig he requested and continue on with my shopping. He starts calling the pig, Wilbur, which he picked up from Charlotte's Web. He is having full blown conversations with his new friend when I hear him say,"You want to come to Bosty's house, Wilbur? You want to come play at my house?" I knew at that very moment that I was too big of a sucker and would end up taking home Wilbur. He has hauled Wilbur around with him for days, setting him on the counter to eat cereal, reading him stories, and making a bed for him. I am so glad that Wilbur joined our family so that we don't have to get that puppy the kids have been begging for now.

Benny's Boots

Boston has recently got new shoes. He has his little movie obsessions and one of his latest has been Sandlot. He loves Benny's shoes and so we went out and got him some. He hasn't wanted to wear any other shoes since. When Cooper was this age he went through the exact same phase. He went through a few pair of "Benny's boots" as they both affectionately refer to them as. Boston and Cooper are definitely brothers and share the same obsessions in life.

Beauty Takes Pain!

Delaney has been counting down the days all summer when she would be able to go get her ears pierced. We told the girls when they were younger they had to wait until their ninth birthday to get their ears pierced. Well, when McKenzie was approaching age nine she convinced her Dad to let her get hers done six weeks before her birthday so she could change out her earrings on her birthday. So following in her footsteps, Delaney counted back six weeks from her ninth birthday and here we are. Delaney and her friend Tess decided to go together since they were both a little scared to say the least. Tess went first but it didn't help ease Delaney anxiety obviously from her reaction. In the end they were tough and endured the pain for the beauty of their cute little pink flower earrings!

First day of school

Yesterday was our first day of school. I go to Tonaquint and Delaney and Cooper go to Heritatige Elemantary. I got up at 6:00 and made pancakes and saved the leftovers for Delaney and Cooper. I went to our neighbors house and jumped their fence to go to the bus stop. Delaney got up at 7:30 got ready practiced piano and then her and Cooper left for school at about 8:45. Here are some pictures of us on the first day of school. We had to do mine at home because I ride the bus.

A new cousin!

On Sunday a new cousin, Kaden Robert Bodily, was born. He was 9 lbs., 20 inches long and as cute as can be. He had plenty of black hair. We walked into the hospital and Cooper said hospitals make me nervous. While we were walking down the hallway Boston said Bud where are you? We walked into the hospital room and Boston would not get close to the baby, but on Monday he got on the bed and held Kaden. We are so excited little Kaden made it safely here and are grateful for the new addition to our family.

**McKenzie has decided to take matters into her own hands and has learned how to update our blog since her mother neglets the task. She will do a fabulous job at keeping everyone informed on our happenings!

Finally an update

Kenzie and Delaney got back from Spanish Fork yesterday. They were hanging out with Scott's Mom, Dad, and sister Emily. The girls were able to stay the first night at Emily's apartment in Provo. That is always a fun adventure. They were able to hike up Bridal Viel Falls, go on the ski lift at Sundance, go and see Kung Fu Panda, help paint a little wooden play kitchen, and ride Uncle Mark's horse. They had a blast! They were able to catch a ride down to St. George with Rowene and Billy's neighbor Jodi and her friend Lori.

Disneyland and California Adventure 2007

A few weeks before Christmas we decided to load up the kids and hit Disneyland and check out the great holiday festivities. We had such a great time and the kids absolutely loved it. The crowds were not bad so we were able to hit every ride with minimal wait time. The girls of course love California Screamin', Cooper toloerates the rollercoasters, and Boston could ride on Ariel's merry-go-round all day long. We also discovered the Cheesecake Factory that is just down the street that was a hit. We had so much fun and can't wait to go again-Cooper says we're going for his "family birthday party" in February so anyone who wants to come, let us know!

Christmas break at Hardware Ranch

While visiting Mom and Dad in Logan we spent some time with horses Molly and Nikki on a wagon ride to see wild ELK at the Hardware Ranch south of Logan, UT. Boston was so excited and keep pointing and calling to the ElK "GUS" from his latest favorite movie. This is a picture of our family and cousins Baylee and Brielle.

Final Marathon?

Well friends and family, looks like another marathon has come and gone and I made it through without any major catastrophe's. I saw Cherry Lynn(Kenny's Mom who has walked the marathon for several years) across the street last night and hollered "I made it and still have all 10 toe nails in tact." The weather for the run was nice and actually quite chili at the start line. It worked out just fine though as I was quite bundled up during the first portion of the race. Kari and I stayed together for about 16 miles of the race and finally got our picture taken together after all these years. For some reason during the past 4 years we haven't been together to get a picture taken. We lost Leslie at the start line and couldn't find her during the whole race. I was so mad when I found out that we finished the marathon just one minute a part and didn't even get to enjoy it together.

My final time was 4:13 which ranks 2nd among my marathon finishes. I have been real consistent around that mark during my four marathons with the one exception when Scott ran with me in 04. I spent some time encouraging him along and we finished together at around the 4:30 mark. My sister-in-law Emily ran as well and did a great job.

I am always so thankful for the ability to exercise and how it improves my daily life. I always enjoy seeing my cute little children at the end of the race with smiles and marathon tattoos on their face. I sure love them and all of the support they provide to me.

Fall is in the air

I was talking to my good friend Rachel Larkin last night at Cooper and Jace's soccer practice and she was bugging me about an update so here goes.

For everyone who lives in St. George, Mesquite or a desert climate as ours, fall is a welcome season especially after the summer heat. The weather is so beautiful in St. George and just in time to cool down for marathon weekend. I am excited to run this year but I'm truly considering it being my last. The idea of running half marathons is perfect for me.

Delaney was baptized over the weekend and it was such a wonderful thing. I am so thankful for opportunities like this as a family to see our children making good decisions in their lives. We took her to the temple to get her baptism pictures taken and I told Scott that the camera really loves that girl. She is so photogetic and looked so pretty in her white dress.

It's soccer season for Delaney and Cooper. We have so much fun watching their games. Cooper and his buddies are so funny when they score a goal. Last week Luke Orchard scored a few goals and each time he did he ran by the sideline with his hands out just like they do in the pro's. We had a great time and shared some good laughs.

McKenzie is learning to play the entertainer on the piano. It's such a cute little song and a great alarm clock for the whole family at 7:15 AM. She is certainly having fun with it.

Wish me luck this weekend with the marathon. I would really like to break the 4:00 hour mark if possible. Hopefully I can post my results after I'm finished or if I'm incapacitated Scott can do it for me.

Vest Kids

Scott's mom just e-mailed us some fun pictures from our get together this weekend. We took all of the grandkids to Ancestor Square(Pizza Factory) and had pictures taken. Last night we spend some time tearing up the carpet in our family room. Before we did it Scott wished Delaney Happy 8th Birthday with spray paint on our carpet. She thought it was pretty cool when she came home from Soccer practice. It's been fun doing some of these remodeling projects on the side. Maybe we'll be ready to build a house together again someday without it drastically effecting our relationship. Gotta run!

Vest Family Reunion

We had an excellent weekend and even extended weekend with friends and family. Scott's family was in town for the annual Vest Family Reunion which has been held here in the St. George area for the past two years. Last year we went to the Dixie State College cabin because Wade was still working for Dixie at the time. Since Wade took a new job with Edward Jones the perks went away so we improvised and got rooms through Shane Wittwer at the Abbey Inn.

We planned some fun activities including Cinderella at Tuachan, water balloon shooting, pedicures for the girls, swimming and some crazy woofle ball in the backyard. Out of all the activities we engaged in it seemed like swimming at the pool ranked highest on the list. We sure had a great weekend and we always enjoy spending fun times with the family.

We are preparing for Delaney's big 8th birthday on Thursday, September 20th and are so excited for her to be baptized and confirmed. Delaney is such a fun girl to have in our family and she always gives us lots to laugh about. She and McKenzie are really into their piano lessons right now and practice almost every morning. It's fun to watch the girls learn new piano pieces especially when we recognize the songs.

Kent and Emily Cook and their girls were just in town visiting us before they head off to Switzerland. Kent took a promotion with HILTI to work in their Leadership Training division. We told them we would love to get over and see them hopefully next summer or fall. Scott and Kent played some golf yesterday and Emily, the girls and I hung out, talked, and shopped a bit.

Fall is here in St. George and it feels beautiful. It's a little bit crisp in the mornings on our runs but it feels really good. We're just over two weeks away from the marathon so the countdown has begun. I'm happy that we're finished with the long runs and tapering down to be prepared.

California Screaming

We returned home from California later this afternoon and had such a great time. First of all, it was great to see our little ones for sure and it was also great to know they were getting taken such good care of by Wader and Sara. When we talked to them on Saturday they told us that Boston had taken quite a liking to the game of football and had been running around the house all day in Cooper's Packers helmet saying football, football, football.

Our anniversary trip started off with a Friday night baseball game Angels vs. Indians. We scalped the tickets from someone as we were entering the parking lot. We sat behind the Angels dugout for the 1st five innings and then sat down the right field line after that. The stadium was pretty full but there were still some seats around. The Angels won in the 10th inning 3-2 and it was a fun game.

The next day we woke up early and headed for Newport Beach. Scott and I went for a jog along the beach and ran from Balboa to 21st street and back. After we finished our jog we went into Sharkeez for the famous fish tacos. They were so yummy and it was fun just to hang out and relax after our run. By the way, I was so happy I didn't have to do my long run on Saturday this week. The little 5 miler we did was plenty for me and it was a pleasant run with beautiful weather.

After Sharkeez we went back to the hotel to get ready for the UCLA vs. BYU football game. We left 2 hours before the game to make sure we'd get there in time as we were driving from OC to Pasadena. There was an accident which stalled us for about 45 minutes so we arrived at the game 7 minutes into the 1st quarter. It was a great game though. Vasu Mudliar got us tickets along with half of St. George. It was really fun sitting in the same section as many of our friends from St. George. BYU really played well and we thought they played good enough to win but lost in the end.

It was off to Olive Garden after the game and we tried to find an Olive Garden close to Disneyland. We had a yummy dinner and tried a fun new dessert pumpkin cheesecake. It was good but I still think the #1 dessert is Black Tie Moussecake. To cap off the night we went to Disneyland and hit a few rides. We got there just in time to see the fireworks and have some fun before we headed back to the hotel.

It was such a fun trip and one of the best parts of our trips always is the wonderful conversations we have to and from our destinations. It sure makes the trip go by a lot faster when you have such good things to talk about and a good partner to share them with. We look forward to many more anniversaries and are hoping to get back to So. Cal in early November on a family trip.

We have a fun filled week planned including a Vest Family reunion here in St. George. Better sign off for now.

12 Years WOW!

Tomorrow will mark the 12th year anniversary for my lover and I. What a great time it's been and I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have spent the time with oh wait, maybe A Rod but the Yankees aren't playing that well right now anyway. Speaking of baseball, we're trying to get out of town and catch the Angels vs Indians game in Anaheim. Scott decided to plan our anniversary in So Cal this weekend to catch some MLB and college football action. We are heading to the Rose Bowl tomorrow to watch my Cougs go at it again the Bruins. We're excited to go. I'm kind of more excited for the fish tacos at Sharkies in Newport. My friend Richelle told me about them a couple of months ago when we were there with Scott's baseball team and they are worth the wait.

It's been a fun week. I must say however that I bonked on my long run(20 miles) last week. Scott dropped Kari, Leslie and I off just before the Veyo hill last week and all of a sudden a storm blew in. We were running in the Thunder and Lighting and of course tons of rain followed. I'm not sure it was the weather conditions or what but it wasn't a real fun run. I came home and asked Scott if he would still "love me" if I didn't run the marathon. I'm not sure how crazy I am about making it into the 10 year club. I'd be happy to just run half marathons really.

The kids are having a blast at East Elementary. McKenzie, Delaney, and Cooper all had their East Broncos shirts on before they went to school today and they all were sporting great school spirit. They are hanging out with their other parents this weekend Wader and Sara. Last night Sara and Wade taught little Boston how to crouch down and burst off the line and make a football tackle. He really cracks us up with his energy and spunk. The kids sure love their uncles and aunts and are very excited for our upcoming Vest reunion in St. George next week.

Hopefully I can write a recap of our wonderful 12th anniversary. We've had some good ones and this will be another one for our history books.

Running

By the way, I love to run. I do it more for the social aspect of being able to chat with friends while we get some good exercise. This year I will run my 4th marathon. Who would have thought I would turn into a marathon runner. Anyway, it should be fun and I just wanted to publicly acknowledge my husband(Scott) for supporting me and being my knight in shining armor along the way. You are the best Scott, I love you! May we all find a passion in our life and pursue it!

Sunny St. George

I'm new at this so here goes. I love reading everyone else's blogs and have made it a tradition to read them every Sunday and Monday night. I decided to start a blog to hopefully keep in touch with many of you throughout the country. We live in St. George, Utah and really love it. We have had a wonderful summer filled with tons of travel throughout the Western States. We are a family of six now which at times is real hard to believe considering Scott and I feel like we fell in love in the cafeteria at UVSC just a short while ago. Funny how life has a way of getting way crazy and fast paced. Our family consists of Scott and I, McKenzie (10), Delaney (7), Cooper (5) and Boston (1). Wow, it's so fun being their mom and learning from each one of them everyday! We are just getting back into the groove of a schedule with school starting last week.
